Last week, 8th - 14th February was National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2021 and was a week long celebration shining the light on the amazing work done by apprentices and their employers.
The Week also recognised how employers of all sizes have stepped up to the challenge during this unprecedented time.
We had a fantastic week hearing from our employers and our apprentices, for those of you who missed out on the activities on social media, here’s what you missed;
Richard Rogers – IT Tutor | YH Training Services Ltd

Abbi Kirby – Marketing Coordinator | YH Training Services Ltd
“I initially started an apprenticeship back in 2013/14 undertaking a Level 2 Business Admin Apprenticeship working at a local farm organisting and advertising for weddings and events and assisting with administration work. The following year i began working for YH Training Services as a Business Development Apprentice assisting the employment team in sourcing and obtaining employment for apprentices and advertising apprenticeship vacancies, after just less than a year i began assisting with marketing for the company and swiftly found something i enjoyed doing, by this time i had completed my Level 3 Business Admin Apprenticeship. YH then provided me with the opportunity to undertake a Level 4 CIM qualification in Marketing allowing me to progress my career. Doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to earn a wage while building up my CV with vital qualifications and learning whilst being able to afford to get a mortgage and buy a house, have a nice car, enjoy holidays abroad and so much more”
We practice what we preach, we believe in apprenticeships so much that most of our staff have undertaken them!

“I started off as an Apprentice with YH at the age of 16 upon leaving school. I knew I didn’t want to be sat in a college environment and that I wanted to get out there and work. I originally applied for an accounting role but there wasn’t many entry level roles back then so I was offered an administration apprenticeship which worked alongside an accounting department so it worked out well. Since starting that Administration apprenticeship I have since also completed Level 2 & 3 Accounting apprenticeships and an IT Apprenticeship at Level 3… all whilst working for YH. My role has also developed since starting at YH 8 years ago. I am now a MIS Coordinator and solely responsible for the input of data and making sure it’s as accurate as humanly possible before submitting this to government. I enjoyed being an apprentice and learning whilst getting paid at the same time. I also found that doing the qualifications gave me more insight into the different subject areas and also our company and I would recommend going down the apprentice route to anybody who doesn’t like being stuck in a classroom.”

We loved hearing from our apprentices too…
Many of our apprentices go on to progress within their roles and upon completion of their initial apprenticeship will then move on to complete a higher level apprenticeship, another apprenticeship in another area or move on to a higher role with further responsibility and an increase in wage within the same employer.
