"I went through a year at College wondering what I could do next. Do I stay on at College or do I try something different? A friend of mine called Josh told me about the MPC Course and how much it helped him so I came in and had a chat about what the Course involved and how it worked.

I started the MPC Course in September 2015. I was shy and quiet at first, but once I got to know the people on the course they were all like a little family. They were all willing to take anyone in and help with your problems and questions.

When I go into the job I will be with the Queen Alexandria’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. During my training I will go on to a 3-year degree in Nursing at Birmingham University.

I'm really looking forward to the new life I have and to pushing myself to the limits. None of this would have happened if I did not start the Course as a shy 17 year old."

Joining the Military Preparation Course has helped me become more confident and everyone was very welcoming when I joined. The environment is very positive and everyone treats each other with respect

Jack Varley

My tutors have been great, offering me advice and providing me with everything I need to learn. When I first joined MPC I was nervous but that soon went away from my amazing classmates and engaging lessons.

I joined MPC to gain my maths and English along with a challenge to improve my fitness and military knowledge. I have accomplished all my starting goals and so much more with the help of my tutors and my ambition to become something greater than myself.

Kieron O'Donnell

The Military preparation course has benefitted me massively since I started in November 2019; I am in the best physical and mental state of my life!

We have completed different exercises since I joined the course for example, Exercise Yorkshire Strike. The exercise was very good for my knowledge of the military lifestyle and how to conduct myself on operation. I also received an award for best student on this exercise, which I am proud of. Due to the Military preparation course I feel confident in my ability to pass the assessment centre and begin basic training.

Ryan Coupland

This course has helped me with my self-confidence, my physical fitness and being able to make new friends to me it is just one big family.

I would definitely recommend MPC for anybody who would like to join the forces as it gives an insight to what it is like within the army you don’t just do lessons you also put into practice the skills that you have learnt within the lessons to use by going out in the field whether this is for a night or 3 accompanied by any of the other MPC’s around England these will always be fun as you get to make new friends and out your team working skills together even if you argue at the end of the day you always come out learning new skills through the arguments and have made new friends!

Alexandra Shepherdson

This course has helped me massively; it is a massive eye opener before you join. I feel so much more confident as I know a lot more things about the military. The 4 day Yorkshire Strike exercise, this was a huge eye opener about what basic training will be like. I really enjoyed it

Josh Purvis

The course and the tutors have helped me improve my fitness and knowledge of the military to help prepare me for phase 1 training. I would definitley recommend this course to anyone.

Jamie Hart

My tutors have helped me a lot. I am now confident to speak in groups and have passed my maths and English. I cannot recommend this course enough. I have learnt a lot and they helped me to lose weight and get fit to pass my assessment. Lee was brilliant, always willing to help me. I have made some great friends. Thank you MPC

Isaac Armstrong

On this course you learn so much about the military and gain knowledge ready for training like when we went to Driffield but more importantly for me , I have learnt a lot about myself which is the main thing, in my opinion. This helps me to be a better team player and communicate with others. The main skills I have learnt from being on the course so far is team building and fitness.

Damien Lofthouse

This course has helped me build up my confidence, my strength and my knowledge.

Kaitlin Faulder

I have applied to join the Royal Dragoon Guards and without MPC I wouldn’t have had the confidence in myself to start my application, I have learned how to eat healthily, how to keep myself fit and I even had the chance to see a glimpse of what it would be like in phase 1 training thanks to MPC and the Yorkshire Rgt on Exercise strike .

Jack Gee

This course has helped me massively as MPC has amazing tutors and are there to support you. They are better than any other college as they will never leave you stuck and talk to us one to one. The course has helped build my fitness and knowledge as the tutors help you to be the best version of yourself and I believe this is what makes YH Training Hartlepool the best centre and course to be on.

Ronnie Coles

I started my time at MPC Hartlepool nearly a year ago (Sept 2019). I was undisciplined and misbehaved a lot at school, my attendance wasn’t the best and I didn’t do very well on my GCSE exams.

I decided to join the Army and joined MPC Hartlepool; the Tutors were excellent and steered me in the right direction, they helped motivate me and taught me a lot. Eddie, Steve and April pushed me and made me work hard. Without their help I don’t think I would have got to where I am now.

Thanks to YH Training I now have qualifications in Math and English Level 2. I completed my Level 1’s first and then progressed to Level 2.

I can’t thank the Tutors for helping me and for how far I’ve come. I am about to start my phase one training at ATR Pirbright ( Aug 2020) as an Aviation Ground Crew Specialist in the Army Air Corps.

The advice, guidance and at times patience I received when on the course has helped me realise my career goal and I am really grateful for all the hard work and dedication given to me by my tutors, especially Eddie.

I would definitely recommend the course to anyone wishing to pursue a career in the Armed Forces.

“I started working at YH Training in 2015 as an apprentice in their accounts department. I was working towards my Level 3 in Accountancy and one year later, I completed the qualification and apprenticeship. I’ve now moved on to my Level 4 which I’m now over half way through.

I’m thoroughly enjoying my times working in the office and have made some great friends in the classroom too. I’m looking forward to completing my Level 4 and developing further in my career."

It turned out the Hull centre was looking to recruit their own apprentice and in September 2016 I joined the team! Day to day I talk to customers, book exams and input learner information. I'm now working towards my Advanced apprenticeship."

"When I left college I was unsure of what I wanted to do and I didn't want to go to University for the sake of going, so instead of applying for University I decide to apply for apprenticeships and I'm happy with that decision."

"My apprenticeship was a stepping stone. It allowed me to get a qualification in the industry I knew I wanted to build a career in. At the same time, I was able to earn and support myself rather than be burdened by the debts associated with going to University! I’ve already got a better job as a result and I’ll continue to progress in this industry."

Jay joined Practical Networks in September 2013 after doing his A Levels. He knew he wanted to work in IT and thought about University, but everyone he knew seemed to drop out from IT courses. He was also living independently, so it was important for him to earn money and so an apprenticeship was the route for him. With a qualification now under his belt, he’s progressed to be an IT Helpdesk Engineer at the company.

Completing an apprenticeship and going about my regular work day during a national lockdown was certainly not something any of us could foresee, but when the challenge presented itself I knew it was nothing that I couldn't overcome.

Working from home wasn't plain sailing at first, but I knew just because I wasn't around my team didn't mean they weren't there to offer their support, and after a few adjustments to my workspace, I was back to regular work in no time!
I also had coursework to complete. Luckily I could use OneFile to add to my written work if needed, but I also had discussion pieces to complete, which would prove difficult working from home, therefore not being able to have my regular meetings with Sam. After some trial and error, we found that Teams worked best when recording discussions.
I wouldn't say working from home has been the easiest, but I feel that I have adapted well, and I certainly can't wait to get back to the office!

Before doing the business administration Level 3 course I didn’t know what I wanted to in the future and was nervous about doing an apprenticeship. But by doing this course it has opened so many doors for myself.

At this moment in time I work in recruitment which i love. This course has given me so much knowledge about the business which I didn’t know before hand. Knowledge like, legislation relating to my business, shareholders, health and safety in the workplace, how to address customers in the correct manor and so much more. The business administration course is so useful in any business and I can use it all through life. Everyone is so helpful and informative, my tutor is always their to help and pushes me to my best ability.

"To be honest I couldn’t quote how much you have helped me and I couldn’t thank you enough as the position I'm in is all down to your support and great work.

I enjoyed working with you for the short period of time that I did. You helped me to gain confidence, not just in myself but enough to go in to a completely new workplace and start an apprenticeship!

When I first came to YH Training I'd just finished my last year at secondary school and didn’t think I'd get anywhere. With your help I'm now on my second month of my customer service apprenticeship at Yorkshire Coast Homes and could not be happier with the position I'm in - earning whilst learning! You provided an excellent service with tonnes of great guidance, tips and help! I am now working towards my level 2 NVQ in Customer Services and it has really helped change my life around!

I would 100% recommend an apprenticeship/pre-apprenticeship to anyone who is wanting to progress"
