Armed Forces Week – Darlington

Armed Forces’ Week  is the unofficial term for events which begin on Monday 21st June 2021 and encompasses both Reserves’ Day 2021 on Wednesday 23rd June, and finishes with Armed Forces’ Day 2021 on Saturday 26th June.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions Darlington Borough Council have been unable to plan a formal parade or flag raising ceremony, but the Mayor will be recognising Armed Forces Day on the 26th  June 2021 by placing messages on social media; encouraging organisations and individuals to forward messages to the authority for their inclusion.

50 Signal Squadron at Bradford Armoury held a flag raising ceremony on 23rd June 2021, providing an opportunity to celebrate the Armed Forces, both regular and reserve, and the wider Armed Forces community which included their veterans, cadets and families. In attendance was the OC, SSM and Sqn Hon Colonel  along with the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Cyndi Hughes and MP for Darlington, Mr Peter Gibson.   A

small number of personnel from local veteran and service charities and affiliated cadets were also in attendance  with their respective standard bearers as well as the MPC Regional manager – April Thirlaway and also some Military Preparation Course Learners.

It was great to meet the Major and other dignitaries during this ceremony and also take part. YH Training Services Ltd are very proud to hold the Employer Recognition Scheme SILVER AWARD.
