Foundation Learning (E2E) Support Assistant (Temporary)

To provide support to our current e2e/Foundation Learning Tutors, working with 16-18 year old learners’.  The provision seeks to develop learners’ personal and social skills & employability/key skills.  Building a rapport with learners and helping them to progress in a range of employment sectors

Location:York Learning Centre, York House, 15 Clifford Street, York.

Commencement Salary Package: £14,700 pa dependant on experience and qualifications

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Assisting learners in achieving success in all 3 core strands of e2e, being flexible to the learning sessions & providing support where needed
• Assisting with one-to-one support as needed
• Provide English and Maths support both in one-to-one and group situations
• Assisting with IAG as required
• Assist with the preparation of the learning environment
• Assisting the trainers to make and maintain manual files
• Assist with the carrying out initial assessments of basic and key skills
• Assist with the compilation of Individual Learning Plans for learners
• Provide support to enable learners to move into FE, Apprenticeships or employment through the delivery of job focused training (including literacy & Numeracy) from Entry level to Level II
• Provide support delivering basic IT training to learners
• Assist with producing and utilising innovative learning materials that enhance learners employability skills and raise motivation and self esteem
• Liaising and building good relationships with Connexions and other external agencies
• Any other duties as relevant to the post.

You should have Training Provider Experience in a Foundation Learning/(E2e) environment, or a proven track record of working with young, disadvantaged learners.  A qualification in Adult Numeracy/Literacy Level 4, along with PTLLS or equivalent is desirable, with a Counselling qualification being beneficial. You should be IT competent ideally with appropriate qualification (as ability to deliver basic IT essential).  You should also hold a full clean Driving License, with access to own vehicle.

• Ensure all young people in house (Company Wide) have a placement/employment where appropriate within an accepted time (normally 3 months however this could be longer for some Foundation Learning learners). This will involve travel to other YH Centres throughout the region on a © fortnightly basis.
• To contact all Employers on a 6 monthly basis,  enter information on Quality Monitoring System and produce 6 monthly report.
• To contact all Learners on a 6 monthly basis,  enter information on Quality Monitoring System and produce 6 monthly report.
• To receive all 0800 calls and direct calls as appropriate.
• To make sufficient calls to secure new business for YH and pass the leads to the appropriate Centres.
• Any other duties relevant to the provision

• The promotion of YH’s services to increase business via the forging of links with committed organisations, promoting GFWBL and other training requirements.
• The preparation and delivery of presentations to organisations in order to gain new business and contracts.
• The recruitment of potential employers for future Apprenticeships/ Train to Gain and other provisions
• Ensure that relationships with current Employers / external organisations are maintained.
• To secure sufficient quality leads to meet targets as per the salary scales above
• Attend Career Events as and when required, to raise awareness of the Company and promote its services.
• To be pro-active in the development of other areas / sources of income
• Interviewing young people for various provisions
• Any other duties relevant to the position including completion of relevant paperwork, maintaining all records in line with YH and YPLA requirements.
