Daniel Cope, 22, from York joined four young men from North and East Yorkshire and are preparing for training after signing up to join the Army in York.
Fredj Slimene and Daniel Cope, both 22 from York, Jack Ashmore, 19, from Selby , Daniel Nesfield, 19, from Scarborough, and 18-year-old Liam Nurse from Goole, all swore the Oath of Allegiance at York’s Micklegate recruitment office yesterday, and will all join the Yorkshire Regiment.
Daniel, who took part in the country’s first Military Preparation Course (MPC), with YH Training, before deciding to sign up. He said: “I’m really looking forward to getting started. MPC taught me a lot about myself and essential skills which put me in good stead such as discipline and fitness. I think I would find a typical nine-to-five job a little boring.”
