YCH is a big supporter of Apprenticeships and have been for a number of years; we hold Champion Status with Investors in People for how we value training and development.
There is a misconception that Apprentices are there to undertake menial tasks, but the truth is far from that. Our Apprentices make a valuable contribution to our workload, case in point the teething problems we had bringing in house the repairs and maintenance department. It was very challenging initially however with the Apprentices contributing together with the team and working together we’re nearly there.
I have personally worked with and supported 3 Apprentices who have or are being trained by Annette Wray from YH in our department and believe that the standard of Apprentices is very high. With an Apprentice you find that you get someone who comes into the organisation who really wants to make a difference and wants to show that they are capable and will take any of the work on-board, as Amy has.
Annette, Trainer for YH, has always been supportive of the Apprentices at YCH, every Apprentice has benefited from being trained by her; she provides feedback , is conscientious and stays longer than needs be to ensure that the Apprentices have everything they need. It goes without saying that we see
Apprenticeships as a success and we see YH Training Services as a preferred training provider, we get the majority of our Apprentices from YH.
